About Deck Doctor Inc.

We Build Across
4,320 Feet
of Colorado

From Denver at 5,280 to Breckenridge at 9,600. A deck that works at one end of that range will fail at the other — and learning exactly where the line sits is what thirty-two years in one state actually buys you.

Why Altitude Decides Everything

Every City We Serve, Plotted by Elevation

This is the single most useful thing we know about building in Colorado. Hover any point to see the town — or click through to what we build there.

Front Range Metro 5,280 – 6,000 ft 16 cities

Expansive clay that swells and shrinks with moisture, roughly 200 freeze-thaw cycles a year, and the hail corridor. Footings below frost line, sized for the soil rather than the code minimum.

Foothills Transition 6,000 – 7,000 ft 3 cities

Rock close to the surface, real grade, and downslope wind. Excavation becomes the cost variable, stepped footings become normal, and railing gets chosen for wind rather than looks.

Mountain 7,000 – 8,500 ft 4 cities

Snow that sits for weeks instead of melting by afternoon, UV that strips finishes years early, and wildland-urban interface fire requirements. Framing sizes up; stain stops being viable.

High Alpine 8,500 – 9,600 ft 2 cities

The heaviest snow load we design to, the most severe freeze-thaw, and a build season short enough that a late approval costs you the year.

Our Story

Thirty-Two Years, One Town

Golden, Colorado. Same city since 1993.

1993

Two people and a truck

Started in Golden as a family business. Same town, same trade, same name on the truck. The first jobs were repairs on decks other people had built badly.

2000s

Learning the state the slow way

Work spread from the Front Range into the foothills and then the mountains. Each new elevation band taught us something the one below it hadn't — mostly by going back to fix what didn't hold.

2010s

Materials changed, standards didn't

Composite went from a curiosity to the default. We became an authorized dealer for the brands that actually perform up here and stopped recommending the ones that don't.

Today

6,073 projects and counting

Twenty-four communities from Denver to Breckenridge. Still family-owned, still based in Golden, still the same answer when someone asks what we'd do if it were our house.

How We Work

Four Things We Won't Cut

Not slogans — the specific decisions that separate a deck lasting thirty years from one needing work in eight.

01

The ledger comes first

The board attaching your deck to the house is the most safety-critical connection on the structure, and a failed ledger is the leading cause of deck collapses. We through-bolt into structure and flash it. If we open a deck and find it nailed into siding, that gets rebuilt before we discuss anything you can actually see.

02

Footings sized for the ground, not the code

Below frost line, sized for the real load and the real soil. It's invisible work you will never look at, which is precisely why it's the first thing cut on a low bid — and why a level deck develops a slope four winters later.

03

Spec for the altitude, not the catalog

A deck in Englewood and a deck in Breckenridge are different structures. We confirm snow load with the building department that issues your permit instead of assuming a Front Range default.

04

Tell people the cheaper answer

If resurfacing your existing frame is the smarter project, that's what we'll say. We would rather lose the bigger job than sell you a rebuild you didn't need, because we're still going to be here in ten years and so is the deck.
