Snow-Load Engineering

Start with the honest explainer. A pergola is an open-frame structure — posts and crossbeams with slatted or louvered tops — that gives you partial shade while keeping the open, garden-integrated feel. It’s the most budget-friendly of the three. A gazebo has a solid roof: a true outdoor room you can use in rain, blazing sun, or light snow, with screened options that keep the bugs out. A pavilion is the big one — an open-sided structure with a solid roof, sized for outdoor kitchens and long dinner tables. There’s no wrong answer, just different ways of living outside — and plenty of our customers eventually build a combination.
Materials come with real trade-offs. Cedar and timber pergolas bring the warmth people fall in love with, but at altitude they need refinishing on a regular cycle. Aluminum systems are virtually maintenance-free and carry the manufacturer’s warranty on top of our one-year craftsmanship warranty.
